Just in time for Halloween! 'Phantom' with live orchestra

I am doing two more exciting performances of live orchestral accompaniment to the 1925 version of The Phantom of the Opera starring Lon Chaney!

I, along with my spectacular colleagues of the New Jersey Festival Orchestra, led by Maestro David Wroe, perform Gabriel Thibaudeau‘s exciting score written to accompany this wonderful, restored and colorized print of the classic horror film.

A spectacular singer, Sydney Anderson, joins us to sings live with the orchestra the role of Christine, the rising star of the Paris Opera, led astray by the mysterious and hideous phantom.

I apologize about not posting this sooner…. we did one performance last night at DeBaun Auditorium in Hoboken, NJ and it was so much fun, but the beautiful 450-seat auditorium could certainly have held a few more people. Nevertheless, we got uproarious applause at the end. (Well, the film may have garnered some of that!)

Saturday, October 29th, 2022 - Fort Lee, NJ

The Phantom will strike again when we perform at the BRAND NEW Barrymore Film Center in Fort Lee! This multi-media film center and museum has just opened today after years of planning and building. This will be an especially exciting experience for all.

I especially like this part of their description:

“There will not be a single moment of silence as 18-plus members of the fully professional orchestra, under the baton of Maestro David Wroe, perform, with split-second timing and precision, Thibaudeau’s extraordinary orchestral soundtrack, as the original classic silent movie is projected above the orchestra and in full view of the audience.“

Here’s the whole shebang!

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA with the NJ Festival Orchestra and featuring soprano Sydney Anderson

Join the New Jersey Festival Orchestra at the Monroe Twp. High School Performing Arts Center as it brings to life in symphonic splendor the original 1925 movie Phantom of the Opera, starring Lon Chaney.

Savor the silver screen’s original Phantom experience as the symphonic ensemble presents Hollywood ‘s first great horror epic complete with live symphonic soundtrack by Gabriel Thibaudeau.

There will not be a single moment of silence as 18-plus members of the fully professional orchestra, under the baton of Maestro David Wroe, perform, with split-second timing and precision, Thibaudeau’s extraordinary orchestral soundtrack as the original classic silent movie is projected above the orchestra and in full view of the audience.

Sydney Anderson is the featured ‘instrumentalists’ in elemental parts of the movie and is singing the aria in sync with the movie. In part of the movie, Ms. Anderson as Christine, is on stage singing a famed aria from Gounod’s “Faust”.The composer, using the soprano as part of the orchestral score, is part of the climactic ending – soaring up to a high C.

“This is a fabulously romantic, broad stroked and beautiful score of symphonic proportion,” remarked Maestro Wroe. “It closely mirrors the traumatic yet passionate events unfolding in the movie and will give a whole new dimension to surround sound
